The effects of low pressure
In general humans cannot cope with high altitude. As this image shows, humans and also other mammals are greatly effected by altered altitude.
In Colorado, a tunnel built 11,000 ft above sea level took 25% longer to build than a comparable one at sea level. This was due to muscle fatigue, cognition and memory impairments.
